I have finally taken the time to quilt our String Quilt. Many of you participated in making this quilt and now all it needs is the binding. Sure hope someone can take it home with them after the Tuesday, July 5th meeting. This quilt is destined for one of the charitable organizations our guild supports, thank you all for taking the time to help make this quilt.
For those of you that may want to explore String Quilts a bit more, I have a kit, including some already made up blocks, ready to go home with you to practice on. Then….the quilt will be turned in for another service quilt. These blocks are made similar to a half square triangle. Half is light colored variable width strips and the other dark. Simple to make. Sew one light strip to one dark strip and continue with lights on the one side and dark fabrics on the other. The key is to get good contrast. Following are a few pictures with different settings.
Diagonal lines of light and dark will march across this design option.
With the addition of all light blocks you can make a star block. You can see the beginnings of a second star block also.
One more possibility.
