March 2015

This month we enjoyed a workshop with Sam Hunter of Hunter Design Studios.  The quilt we choose to make is called Dingbats.  Lest you all think we are dingbats, this is the meaning behind it : Dingbats are not part of the text. A dingbat is an ornament, character, or spacer used in typesetting, sometimes more formally known as a printer’s ornament or printer’s character often employed for the creation of box frames.

Most of us were able to get one block finished during class.  More photos will be added later.

Challenge this year is to make a quilt representing a song using specified techniques or element each month.  It appears a few of us are falling behind but here are three of them.

And….always our highlight….show and tell.

Making the Dingbats quilt block was so much fun and easier than I was expecting! Sam was a great teacher with a ton of patience! I am always fascinated how the same pattern can look so different by our individual fabric choices….can’t wait to see all our finished quilts!
